Martin Luther King Jr. Day Worksheets (Free PDF)

As an EFL teacher focused on American English, I do my best to educate my students on significant holidays in the United States. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is one of such holidays reflecting important historical events that made America an attractive place for anybody who appreciates freedom, equality and the power of law.

As a rule I dedicate a couple of classes in January to help my middle school students learn about Martin Luther King Jr. and his nonviolent struggle for African Americans’ civil rights. For this purpose I have created a short reading comprehension text and accompanying worksheets. This small printable set allows my students to find out who MLK was and what he did for African Americans and other marginalized groups in the United States. And, of course, the worksheets help students pick up some great vocabulary related to civil rights.
